Cochrane's Foss proves he's boss on the lacrosse field
By Alan Mattson, The Cochrane Eagle Newspaper
A Cochrane native has been making waves on the lacrosse field and in the classroom.
Adam Foss, a captain and starting attack for Simon Fraser University’s lacrosse team, finished his fourth and final season on a high note.
The Clan made the semifinals of the Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) National Championship in Denver, Colorado, the team’s best finish since 1999.
“All the work we put in on the field, in the gym, and in the classroom . . . in the last four years has come to a head,” said Foss, 22, a Cochrane High School grad.
SFU is the only Canadian team out of 213 in the MCLA, but plays at a high level — only 16 teams make the single elimination national tournament each year, and SFU has advanced to at least the quarterfinals in each of the last three seasons.

US Lacrosse Magazine - Making Sense: An Olympic-sized Gap
Lacrosse Magazine, a publication of US Lacrosse, features Simon Fraser in a recent article by online editor Jac Coyne.
Some schools have a break for exams. Others take a hiatus for a reading period. The members of the Simon Fraser men's lacrosse team will be taking the rarely utilized Olympic break starting on Friday.
In addition to the school's academic break, which is a two-week gap coinciding exactly with the 21st Winter Olympiad, Simon Fraser's lacrosse team, located in Burnaby, B.C., just outside of Vancouver, will tack on another fortnight for a month-long hibernation between its game this past Saturday - an 18-3 rout of Division II Western Washington - and it's next game on March 5 at Colorado State.
