Fraser wraps up fall ball season with 2 scrimmage victories
The Simon Fraser men's lacrosse team wrapped up their 2009 fall competition schedule as the Clan traveled 25 miles south of the border to play regional PNCLL Div. II opponents Central Washington and Western Washington on the WWU campus.
Fraser's offense generated 33 goals on the day with 16 goals registering an assist. Twelve of the 19 players dressed for the Clan were underclassmen with, senior attack Ben Towner (Port Coquitlam, BC) 13g, 5a and freshmen Colton Dow (Coquitlam, BC / Heritage Woods) 7g, 4a and Stu Mills (Campbell River, BC/Timberline) 7g, 3a leading the way.

Clan Lacrosse Alumni Curtis Manning Makes Lacrosse News
Curtis Manning, 4 time PNCLL 1st team all conference player, had a productive month of October as he signed with the Calgary Roughnecks of the NLL and will begin play in 2010 after being drafted 6th overall in 2008.
Manning was also selected to 2010 Team Canada's 30 man field lacrosse roster , set to defend their world championship

Simon Fraser Announce 2010 Regular Season Schedule
Simon Fraser men's lacrosse Co-Head Coaches Jeff Cathrea and Brent Hoskins (6th season) have announced the Clan's 13-game regular season schedule for 2010. The Clan will play one of the most difficult schedules in the nation as 7 of their 13 games are against teams that qualified for the 2009 MCLA National Championship Tournament.
Five of the 13 games are scheduled to be played at home on Terry Fox Field atop the Burnaby Mountain campus. SFU's 13 opponents compiled a combined record of 141-60 (.701) in 2009 and eight of their 2010 opponents won 11 or more games last season.

Fraser defeats Westminster in scrimmage, goes 2-1 on Utah Trip
Playing their third game in as many days, Simon Fraser concluded their fall trip to Utah with a 13-8 scrimmage win over Westminster College.
The Clan were led by senior attack Adam Foss (Cochrane, AB / Cochrane) with 5 goals and 1 assist and senior midfield Russel Thomas (Nanoose Bay, BC /Ballenas) with 3 goals. Colton Dow (Port Moody, BC / Heritage Woods) led all freshmen in scoring with 2 goals.

SFU Falls to BYU 17-9 in Fall Scrimmage
Simon Fraser played their second scrimmage of the 2009 fall season on Saturday, falling 17-9 to Brigham Young in front of approximately 300 fans on a sunny day in Provo, Utah. Junior attackman Christopher Tessarolo (2g, 1a) and senior midfielder Kevin Riley (3a) led Fraser with 3 point performances.

SFU defeats Utah 9-2 in Fall Ball Opener
Simon Fraser opened their 2009 fall schedule with a 9-2 win over Utah. Both teams worked in their entire rosters in front of approximately 200 fans at the Waterford School in Sandy, Utah. Fraser was led by strong offensive performances by senior attack Adam Foss (4g, 2a), senior midfielder Russ Thomas (1g, 2a) and freshmen attack Colton Dow (2g).

Fraser Announces their 2009 Fall Schedule
Simon Fraser Men's lacrosse Co-Head Coaches Jeff Cathrea and Brent Hoskins (6th season) have announced that the Clan will play a handful of scrimmages over the next two weeks to close out the fall portion of the team's 2009-2010 schedule.
Fraser will travel to Utah to three RMLC opponents. On Friday, October 16 the Clan will take on Utah in Salt Lake City. The scrimmage will take place at Waterford School with face-off scheduled for 4:30pm MST. Fraser will then make the trip to Provo on Saturday, October 17 for a 3:00pm MST scrimmage against Brigham Young at the BYU North University Fields. SFU will conclude its trip on Sunday, October 18 versus Westminster College (MCLA Div. II) in an 11:00am MST face-off at Westminster's Dumke Field.
SFU will then wrap-up their fall schedule the following weekend on Sunday, October 25 in Bellingham, Washington. Fraser will play a total of three scrimmages versus regional PNCLL Div. II opponents, Central Washington, Pacific Lutheran and host Western Washington. Games will run from 11:00am-4:00pm PST at WWU's Wade King Recreation Centre. Each exhibition will consist of two 20 minute halves with a running clock.

Davies Selected in the 2009 NLL Entry Draft
Simon Fraser midfielder Ben Davies (New Westminster, BC / New Westminster Secondary), was the No. 46 pick in the 2009 National Lacrosse League (NLL) Draft held September 9 at the HSBC Arena in Buffalo, NY. Davies, who will be a junior for the Clan in 2010, was selected in the fifth round by the NLL's Colorado Mammoth.

Former Clan players compete in 2009 World Police & Fire Games
Five Simon Fraser alumni will be competing at the 2009 World Police & Fire Games, August 1-3 at Town Centre Sport Complex in Coquitlam, BC. Former Clan midfield Owen Wood ('97), attack Mike Fernquist ('99) and goaltender Matt Johnson ('04) will be playing for the Vancouver Lawmen 1, coached by fellow SFU alumni Rick Clark ('03), while goaltender Tyrone Willushaw ('00) will be backstopping the Vancouver Lawmen 2.
Held biennially, the World Police & Fire Games are an international sporting event, offering police officers, firefighters, customs and correction officers from around the world an opportunity to showcase their athletic excellence in over 65 sporting events. 2009 marks the first time that field lacrosse has been played at the games.

2009 Simon Fraser Men's Lacrosse Season-Ending Notebook
In their 5th season under Co-Head Coaches Jeff Cathrea and Brent Hoskins, Simon Fraser posted a 14-1 record and won their 2nd straight PNCLL Conference Championship. The No. 6 ranked Clan would advance to the MCLA Quarterfinal before being eliminated in overtime by the No. 3 seed Chapman (15-14).

Simon Fraser Players Receive High Honors
Graduating Senior Curtis Manning and Junior Adam Foss were inducted to the 2009 MCLA Div 1 Scholar Athlete List. To be considered for this honor, each student athlete must possess a CGPA of 3.2 or higher in addition to being named a 1st or 2nd team all conference player. This was Manning's fourth ('06, '07, '08, '09) Scholar Athlete Award and Foss' second ('08, '09) Scholar Athlete Award

Simon Fraser loses in MCLA Quarter Final battle
In what many considered to be the most highly anticipated game of the 2009 tournament, the #6 Simon Fraser were defeated in overtime by the #3 Chapman University Panthers in their quarter final round match up of the MCLA Div 1 championship tournament. Chapman would then defeat BYU 10-9 (OT) in the semi-finals only to lose for the second straight year in the MCLA finals to Univeristy of Michigan 12-11. The Clan, who only graduate 5 seniors in '09 end their impressive season with a 14-1 record.

Simon Fraser defeats Virginia Tech in Round 1 of MCLA Championships
Simon Fraser defeated the #11 Virginia Tech Hokies in their opening round match up of the MCLA Div 1 championship tournament by a margin of 14-11. Fraser now faces #3 ranked Chapman University in MCLA Div 1 Quarterfinal action tomorrow afternoon.

SFU Captures 8th PNCLL Title
Simon Fraser defeated the University of Oregon 11-7 in the 2009 PNCLL Championship game to capture their PNCLL record 8th conference title and second in as many years. Fraser was led by Chris Tessarolo's 5 point (4g,1a) afternoon and 3 point efforts from Ben Towner (1g,2a) Adam Foss (2g,1a) and Russel Thomas (3a)

Simon Fraser Regular Season Wrap up
SFU has finished their regular season with a 13-0 record and as William Howard discusses, the team is gearing up for their 8th PNCLL Championship.
The #1 seeded Clan will face the #4 Oregon State Beavers on Saturday May 2nd at 4PM in Tacoma WA then play the winner of #2 Oregon vs #3 Washington on Sunday at 3PM

Fraser climbs one spot to #2 in latest MCLA Div-1 Poll
Simon Fraser is at #2 in the latest MCLA Div-1 poll which was released this week. The Clan captured 591 voting points and now sit behind, 1. University of Michigan (625) #3 Brigham Young (572), #4 Chapman University (560) and # 5 Minnesota-Duluth (524) round out the top 5.

Simon Fraser Midseason Report
SFU has hit the mid-point of their 14 game schedule, and as William Howard discusses, the team has already garnered significant attention. The Clan moved up in the MCLA national rankings, climbing to third spot and sporting a 6-0 record.
The squad will enjoy some time off as they gear up for an important second half of their season featuring a road weekend versus their conference rival, University of Oregon on April 3, 2009. .

Simon Fraser defeated the UW Huskies 18-9 in front of a home crowd at Mercer Stadium in New Westminster to improve their 2009 record to 6-0. Fraser's offense was led by Juniors Adam Foss (3g, 2a), Ben Towner (2g, 3a) and Sophomore Ben Davies (4g). Next up for the Clan is a final home date versus Portland State University Saturday March 28 @ 1PM

#5 SFU handles Utah 15-6
Fresh off of their BYU victory, Simon Fraser showed they were once again great road warriors as they defeated the Univeristy of Utah 15-6 in Salt Lake City . Fraser was led by a strong offensive performances by junior attack Ben Towner (3g, 2a) and junior midfielder Kevin Riley (3g, 1a).

#5 Fraser Defeats #3 BYU in Provo
Simon Fraser defeated Brigham Young University 17-14 in a remach of last May's MCLA quaterfinal match. The Clan were led by a strong tandem goaltending performance of Sophomore Dean Stewart ( 11 saves) and Junior Mike Ripley (8 saves) on the defensive end.
Juniors Ben Towner (6g, 1a) Adam Foss (1g, 6a) and Sophomore Chris Tessarolo (5g) led the way for Fraser's offense.

Simon Fraser starts season with win over Boise State
On a cold but clear Saturday night, the SFU men's lacrosse team defeated the Boise State University Broncos by a score of 18-1.
Juniors Ben Towner and Russell Thomas led the way offensively for the Clan, while Mike Ripley got the start in net.
Simon Fraser goes 3-0 in California Fall Ball Road Trip
The Simon Fraser men's lacrosse team continued its fall practice season with three exhibition wins on a five-day tour through Northern California. On Friday, October 10 the Clan faced Sonoma State University, defeating the Seawolves 8-3 in its opening game in Rohnert Park. They then traveled to Berkeley California on Saturday, October 11 beating the Golden Bears 8-4.
Fraser concluded its third game in three days versus NCAA Div. II Notre Dame de Namur (NDNU) in Belmont, California where they defeated the Argos 9-8. SFU's win over NDNU marked the first time that the Clan have scrimmaged a varsity NCAA opponent in the school's 13-year history.
